Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need pottery experience?
A: No experience is required. All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced potters.
Q: Will we make pots from scratch?
A: Due to limited time and the varied skill levels of participants, we will not be throwing or handbuilding. All vessels and plates are pre-made by master potters so participants can focus fully on learning Korean surfaces decoration techniques.
Q: What will we learn?
A: You will learn and practice 6 traditional Korean pottery decoration techniques, along with many live demonstrations by masters and instructors.
Q: Will my work be finished and fired? Will I get to take them home?
A: Yes. All pieces will be fully fired in Korea while we are traveling/sightseeing and ready to bring home at the end of the tour. It is recommended to plan ahead so you have space in your suitcase to take your pieces home.
Q: How many pieces will I take home?
A: Each participant will take home 5-6 finished pieces.
Q: What is the main focus of this workshop?
A: Traditional Korean techniques of surface design as taught by several Korean master potters. However there may be opportunities to watch live demonstrations of different pottery techniques such as throwing and hand-building by these masters on various excursions. Final itinerary will be confirmed closer to the departure date.
Q: Can I ask questions during the workshop?
A: Absolutely. Questions are welcome anytime.
Q: How many spots are there on the tour? Will I be able to get personalized attention?
A: There are 32 spots on the tour. We assure you that our pottery workshops cater well to larger groups. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, ensuring a rich experience for everyone. Additionally, the larger group allows us to offer you the best value for your investment!
Q: Can I bring a friend or spouse who does not want to participate in the workshops?
A: Due to the logistics and planning involved in our pottery workshop tour, friends and spouses of participants are not permitted to attend unless they are also participating in the workshops. We have a limited number of spots available and this policy helps us ensure a smooth experience for all attendees. Thank you for your understanding!
Q: If I am coming with a friend/spouse who is participating in the workshop and we would like to share a room, can this be arranged?
A: Yes, the hotel has a limited number of double-occupancy rooms which can be booked for two people. Please contact Unha Hill when booking to specify and request this arrangement.
Q: Can I pay in instalments? What is your payment policy?
A: Yes! A $500 deposit is required upon booking to reserve your spot, this deposit is non-refundable after 30 days. 30 days after booking a mimimun balance of $2000 is due. The remaining balance must be paid no later than September 1, 2026. All prices are in Canadian dollars.
